The Benefits of a Metal Roofing System

Wind

Wind Resistance

Metal roofs carry the highest wind resistance ratings of any roofing system on the market. Most are rated to withstand 140mph winds, and some are even capable of withstanding Cat. 5 wind speeds!

Noise

Quiet

Metal roofs offer superior noise reduction from exterior sounds. Installing a metal roof system with a foam backer further insulates the inside of a property from the world in which we live.

Value

Increases Value

On average, a property owner will see a 70-80% increase (from the value of the roof) in the value of their property.

Fire

Fireproof

Metal is one of the few roofing materials that are truly fire-resistant. A metal roof will not ignite due to fire embers, whereas asphalt roofing is not recommended in fire-prone areas.

LowMaintance

No/Low-Maintenance

Most, but not all, metal roof systems are completely maintenance-free because of the concealed fasteners. An interlocking metal roof with concealed fasteners will not require any maintenance other than general debris cleanup.

Enviroment

Sustainability

Metal roofing most commonly consists of at least 25% recycled materials, reducing both the cost and the environmental impact of producing new steel, along with conserving energy, and other natural raw materials during the manufacturing process.

Beautiful Stone-Coated Steel Metal Roofing

Most people consider traditional materials like shingles or tiles before anything else when looking to replace their home's roof. Most don’t even think about metal as a roofing material, though it has significant advantages over other options.

If you don't like the aesthetic of a bare metal roof, you can opt for stone-coated steel roofing instead. This interesting material offers the distinct advantages of metal roofing with a dash of style.

Stone-coated steel roofing comes in 24- or 26-gauge rolled sheets, with a rust preventative coating finished with a thick stone layer. This final layer sticks permanently to the metal surface, giving the roof the appearance of stone, which is far more attractive than a bare metallic exterior.

Metal is the Lightest Roofing Material

  • Provides an exceptional strength-to-weight ratio, reinforcing shear strength to the roof deck. This is especially important in hurricane- and earthquake-prone regions.
  • Eliminates the need for tear-offs and costly waste disposal expenses for remodeling or refurbishment of existing roofs--diverting waste from landfills.
  • Requires no additional reinforcement or construction to support the weight of the roof.

Lifetime Warranty

Because metal roofs are designed to last 50+ years, they are considered a lifetime roofing system. When installed properly, it will be the last roof you’ll ever put on your property. We only recommend metal roofing systems that come with a lifetime, transferrable warranty.

Proper Installation Is Required

A stone-coated steel roofing system, installed with the proper underlayment and attachment process, provides safety, comfort, and protection from some of the most severe climate conditions. And, stone-coated steel roofing may be installed with or without battens. Following manufacturer guidelines for installing the batten system provides the best performance against hail, fire, wind, and heat transfer.

Metal Roofing has a Class 4 Hail Rating

Most metal roofs come with a Class 4 hail rating—the highest available! Hail classification ratings are determined by the UL-2218 impact resistance test. For a roof to receive a Class 4 rating, it must withstand a 2” diameter steel ball-bearing dropped onto the roof from a distance of 20 feet. To pass the UL-2218 test and achieve a Class rating, roofing products cannot develop any tears, fractures, or cracks that extend through the product and are visible under 5X magnification.

This graph describes the parameters of the UL-2218 test.

Most asphalt shingles are not impact-rated, and the few that are Class 4 rated typically cost 10-20% more than those that are not Class 4 rated.
